18 holes par 72 (6048 yards)
Damai Indah Golf is one of Indonesia’s premier golf destinations, encompassing two award-winning, 18-hole championship courses engineered by legendary architects. Situated 22 miles apart, both properties feature comprehensive, high-end resort amenities and a rich history of hosting prestigious international tournaments.
Located along the coastal wetlands of the Java Sea—just 30 minutes from Jakarta International Airport—the PIK Course is a par-72, 6,048-meter layout designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. This venue hosted the 1983 World Cup and multiple Indonesia Opens.
The Design: Jones Jr. masterfully integrated marshlands, native trees, and water hazards with his signature undulating greens and intricate fairway bunker complexes. Multiple tee boxes ensure it remains accessible for all skill levels, and the course is fully floodlit for evening golf.
The Layout: The front nine loops clockwise before reversing direction at the 6th hole, while the closing stretch routes dramatically back toward the clubhouse.
The Finale: The course peaks with its final three holes: the punishing 216-meter par-3 16th (flanked heavily by water), followed by two excellent risk-reward opportunities on the par-5 17th and the match-settling par-4 18th.
Amenities: Features an expansive clubhouse with a coffee shop and international restaurant, alongside a unique aqua driving range where players hit into a lake with floating targets.
Situated in the West Java satellite city of Bumi Serpong Damai, the BSD Course opened in 1992 as Jack Nicklaus’ first design in Indonesia. A highly decorated venue, it has claimed prestigious accolades including the IAGTO Excellence Award.
The Design: This visually stunning 6,545-meter, par-72 track showcases classic Nicklaus hallmarks, particularly massive waste bunkers framing the fairways. While fairways are generous, missing them leaves treacherous recovery shots from the sand.
The Greens: The putting surfaces are multi-tiered (often two or three levels), making two-putts a highly respectable feat. Approach shots must stay below the hole, as downhill putts are incredibly defensive.
Amenities & Sports Complex: The grand clubhouse features impressive locker rooms with full-service massage therapy and multiple restaurants specializing in Asian, Japanese, Korean, and Indonesian cuisine. The property doubles as a country club, offering an Olympic-size pool, indoor/outdoor tennis courts, a short-game practice complex, and a grass-tee driving range built over a large lake.
The Verdict: Whether navigating the coastal breezes and tactical routing of Robert Trent Jones Jr. at PIK or tackling Jack Nicklaus’ sweeping waste bunkers and multi-tiered greens at BSD, Damai Indah Golf provides the ultimate twin-anchor experience for any Jakarta golf itinerary. Both clubs are supported by highly competent caddie corps who offer vital assistance on the greens.
