Situated near Dong Hoi along six kilometers of pristine East Sea coastline, FLC Quang Binh Beach & Golf Resort features a massive luxury complex complete with an ornate clubhouse, beachfront villas, and conference facilities. At the heart of the development are two highly distinctive, natural championship layouts designed by Schmidt-Curley Design, carved out of massive white sand dunes with up to 40 meters of elevation change.
Forest Dunes Course
- The Landscape: Heavily integrated with pre-existing casuarina pine forests, native scrub, and marsh grasses, making it one of Vietnam's most natural courses.
- Aesthetics & Layout: Features a dramatic contrast of white sand, green Paspalum turf, and deep blue lakes. It contains only four formal bunkers; the remaining sand acts as sprawling waste areas.
- Playability: Generous, expansive fairways provide friendly landing zones where errant shots are easily found and recovered.
- The Greens: Oversized with heavy, Scottish links-style undulations and severe catchment zones that demand precise approach shots, especially when battling the coastal winds.
Ocean Dunes Course
- The Landscape: Set closer to the water than its sister course, this layout relies purely on the raw, tree-free terrain of fluffy sand dunes and native grasses to deliver an authentic links experience.
- Aesthetics & Layout: Maximizes its coastal proximity with elevated tees and greens that offer panoramic views of the East Sea from nearly every hole.
- Playability: Features firm, fast fairways that promote long roll-outs. While fairways are wide, missing into the surrounding tree-free, fluffy sand dunes makes clean ball contact exceptionally difficult.
- The Greens & Strategy: Large greens feature distinct, deep center cut-outs that test a player's green-reading skills. Success relies heavily on keeping the ball low to navigate the strong seaside winds and exploit the firm turf.
