The Garden Course: An Open, Flora-Rich Layout with Treacherous Greens

While water dictates the strategy on the opening two holes, it only returns as a serious threat on the par-4 5th and the snaking par-5 12th. The Valley Course: A Narrow Parkland Test Flanked by Hundreds of Pines

In contrast, the 6,917-yard (6,325-meter) Valley Course offers a highly technical parkland setting defined by hundreds of pine trees and constant, rolling elevation shifts. Most of the holes wind along either side of a picturesque, man-made lake on the valley floor, creating spectacular panoramic views. While tree planting gives the inner interiors an orchard-like feel, the perimeter foliage is thick enough to make ball finding a serious challenge. Newcomers will find the blind tee shots, tight drives, and elevation changes a true test of their strategy.

Water hazards come into play on about five or six holes on the Valley Course, with the spectacular par-5 4th presenting the ultimate risk-reward test. Played on the other side of the expressway alongside the par-4 3rd and par-3 5th, the 4th hole forces players to avoid a creek off the tee before executing a precise approach onto an intimidating island green. Rather than heavy sand protections, the circular and flatter greens here are guarded by thick, clinging semi-rough, requiring a sharp and creative short game to rescue pars.
