Located just 15 minutes from central Mandalay on a hill overlooking the Golden Palace, Shwe Mann Taung Golf Resort is a historic British colonial-era course that has been completely updated into a modern parkland layout with upgraded turf and irrigation.

Measuring a short 6,564 yards from the championship tees, the course rewards strategy over distance. While shorter hitters will find plenty of par and birdie opportunities, low handicappers can easily reach the par-5s in two. However, the tight layout can quickly inflate scores without precise club selection. Adding to the unique challenge, the two nines feature entirely different turf varieties: the front nine utilizes older Bermuda grass, while the back nine features newer Zoysia fairways and ultra-dwarf Bermuda greens.

• The South Course (Holes 1–9): Refurbished in 2014, this 3,198-yard nine is short but highly challenging. The index-1 3rd hole is a tight, dogleg-right par-5 where out-of-bounds hazards require a strategic layup rather than an aggressive second shot. The 7th hole is a grueling, 213-yard par-3 that tests even the best long-iron play.

• The North Course (Holes 10–18): Refurbished in 2017, this better-conditioned 3,366-yard nine offers the best views of Mandalay. The signature 11th is a stunning, short par-3 requiring a precise tee shot to a tricky green guarded by large ponds at both the front and back. In contrast, the closing 18th is a massive, dogleg-left par-4 and the second-toughest hole on the course, heavily protected by trees and a dense bunker complex starting 150 yards out.

While the clubhouse facilities are standard, the resort stands out as the only venue in Mandalay to offer night golf under stadium lights—perfect for late afternoon rounds. Backed by well-trained, friendly caddies and a highly convenient location, it offers a fun yet demanding test for any visiting golfer.
