Situated in a heavily wooded highland valley in Kanchanaburi Province near the Myanmar border, Evergreen Hills Golf Club & Resort enjoys a mild, refreshing climate that is notably cooler than most of Thailand.

Located roughly an hour south of Kanchanaburi town and 1.5 hours north of Hua Hin, this hidden gem is primarily frequented by locals and expats. However, it is well worth the trip for international travelers seeking an off-the-beaten-path experience, boasting exceptional maintenance standards that have previously hosted professional Thai golf tournaments.

Course Design & Key Challenges

Designed by At-anan Yomchinda and opened in 1994, this 18-hole, par-72 layout spans 6,879 yards. It emphasizes precision over power, offering a rigorous test for all skill levels.

• The Terrain: The course features tight, narrow fairways lined with 18 distinct tree species, steeply sloped greens, and prominent bunkering on nearly every hole.

• The Crucial Finish: The layout's most formidable tests come late in the round:

  • 16th & 17th Holes: Both feature treacherous island greens surrounded by water.

  • 17th Hole (Par 4): A punishing, complex dogleg that is heavily squeezed by water hazards on both sides.

Facilities & Service

Traveler's Tip: While the golf course itself is superbly maintained, the on-site resort, clubhouse, and facilities are basic and geared toward local visitors. International golfers are advised to play the course but seek higher-quality accommodations elsewhere.

• The Staff: The caddies and starters are local and speak very little English, but they deliver friendly service with classic Thai hospitality.

The Verdict

Despite its modest amenities and remote location, Evergreen Hills is highly recommended for anyone visiting Kanchanaburi or looking for a distinct day trip from Hua Hin. Its excellent turf conditions and natural obstacles provide a highly rewarding round in a scenic countryside setting.
