45 holes par 72/72/36 (6322 m yards)
Opened in 1981 and designed by Thomson, Wolveridge & Perret, this historic layout is legendary for its extreme difficulty. It utilizes native grass fairways, which prevent the ball from sitting up cleanly and punish loose swings.
The Brutal 1st Hole: Arguably the toughest opening hole in the country, this par-5 starts on a tee box 40 meters above a tight fairway with a river flanking the right. The second shot plays uphill to an even narrower landing zone, culminating at a steeply sloped, front-to-back green that rejects incoming shots.
Front-Nine Grind: Hole 3 requires a precise long wood into a narrow green flanked by sand. Holes 5 and 9 demand highly technical, shaped tee shots around overhanging jungle trees.
Back-Nine Gauntlet: The 10th hole is the tightest on the course, requiring a high fade into a jungle-lined fairway. The 15th is a sweeping, 90-degree dogleg par-5 that finishes at a green perched amid local rice paddies.
The New Course: Longer, more open, and significantly more forgiving than the Old Course. It features wide fairways that allow long hitters to let loose. The front nine is relatively gentle, while holes 11 through 13 present the stiffest challenge with tight landing areas and heavily guarded greens.
The Z Course: A fierce 9-hole layout designed by Max Wexler, regarded as the most demanding 9-hole track in Indonesia. Framed by mature hardwood trees, the routing forces players to cross the Cikeas River eight times, making it an excellent test for low handicappers but overly penalizing for casual golfers.
Traveler Tip: The small, 12-room on-site golf resort is basic and primarily caters to locals. International travelers are generally advised to stay in the city, as the surrounding villages offer minimal tourist amenities.
Architecture & Dining: The clubhouse features a striking West Sumatran design with a traditional pointed roof. Its restaurant serves excellent, authentic Indonesian cuisine alongside standard golf fare.
Practice Areas: While practice facilities are available on-site, they do not receive the same pristine level of upkeep as the main championship courses.
